Thinking about the end of a life is never easy, whether it is your own or the life of some one close to you. But, planning ahead and having a better understanding of what is happening in the last days and hours might mean a comfortable death and could make a very difficult time just a little easier. This course will help.
Thanks to the National Institute on Aging at NIH, the information in this course is based on scientific research and developed with experts in end-of-life issues. It's full of information to help us better understand advance care planning. There are also suggestions for beginning a conversation about end-of-life care and providing comfort care friends, clients, and others with someone near the end of life.
We spotlight famous end of life cases and personlities.
In addition, if you're like most people, you and your clients aren't eager to spend time thinking about what would happen if you or they became unable to direct their own medical care because of illness, an accident, or advanced age.
However, if you don't do at least a little bit of planning - writing down your wishes about the kinds of treatment you do or don't want to receive and naming someone you trust to oversee your care - these important matters could wind up in the hands of estranged family members, doctors, or sometimes even judges, who may know very little about what you would prefer.
So, we take a real close look at the Who, What, Where, Why, and How as it related to Advanced Directives. We even provide you with access to samples from every state so you can make sure you have one for yourself and spouse, if any, and certainly for your clients.
